VETL8800X00: Long wave Infrared Sensor for “Reliable” Occupant detection

Vishay – Hall 3 | Stand 3104

World premiere

Digital Connectivity & Software | Electrics | Electronics

Vishay’s VETL8800X00 is a monolithically built-in CMOS sensor array in a miniaturize SMD package. The device is assembled in a hermetically sealed SMD package and has a target wavelength range between 5 to 15 µm. Its fully qualified according to AEC-Q100 and has a detectable object temperature range of -60 degrees Celsius to +300 degrees Celsius. One of the key applications is occupant detection in Automotive (see image). The sensor detects thermal radiation in the long infrared (LIR) range such as emitted by a human body, which makes it possible to detect the baby in a stationary position (sitting or sleeping). This cannot be done using standard technology such as Passive Infrared. Driven by regulations for child presence detection, anti-privacy concerns and the overall low system cost makes the sensor ideal for this application.
