Research and testing of new automotive adhesive technologies and associated separation processes

The Bonding Competence Center (see image) at the Open Hybrid LabFactory (OHLF) brings together the adhesive technology activities in vehicle construction and recycling (debond on demand) in a central location and coordinates them based on a roadmap. This includes not only the generation of research results, but also their regular discussion and critical evaluation in order to derive new directions for action. In addition to 50 m² of laboratory space, the Bonding Competence Center also has a robot cell in the technical center and a modern workshop room. In conjunction with the analysis technology located in the OHLF, the adhesive production and evaluation of a wide range of sample scales can be covered (coupon samples, demonstrator, 1:1 component). These capacities are open to any institution that would like to work on adhesive technology issues in collaboration with the OHLF.
