The movement toward CASE vehicles has led to an increase in the number of automotive E/E systems. Meanwhile, the complex nature of wiring harness manufacturing makes it difficult to automate, resulting in manual-intensive processes requiring many workers globally. To address these challenges, Sumitomo Electric has developed e-STEALTH W/H™.
The benefits of the e-STEALTH W/H™ (see image) are: Improving the automation rate to about 50 %, increasing the interior space (height of the wiring harness reduced by about 50 % from the conventional product), minimizing the routing distance and reducing man-hours required for assembly.
Sumitomo Electric will open up new manufacturing possibilities by further improving the automation rate and promoting the automated installation of wiring harnesses. The successful adoption of the wiring harness by a major automaker underscores its effectiveness.
