Certified flame-retardant secondary plastics to substitute primary polyamide

Ecobat is the first and so far only player in the market who has certified a recycled polypropylene according to UL 94. The highest possible level was achieved in accordance with the UL 94 V0 standard. The certificate, called Yellow Card, authorizes Ecobat to sell the PP compound with the trade name PPN 1020 GF 20 V0 as a flame retardant material to the electrical/automotive industry.

As an additive, Ecobat uses a solution of the BUDIT 6 series from the specialty chemicals company Budenheim. The special thing about it is that it is a halogen-free, intumescent flame retardant that fulfils the highest technical requirements of the compound. In the event of a fire, these form a foamed, charred layer on the surface. This prevents the flow of air to the combustible material and the emission of combustion gases. The fire is therefore no longer supplied with fuel and cannot spread any further.
