Automated dismantling and disassembly of battery systems and traction batteries

Automated disassembly of battery systems without high-voltage hazards and for closed material cycles. Construction of a fully automated disassembly system. - The ZIRKEL project at the Open Hybrid LabFactory (OHLF) is researching innovative recycling and dismantling processes (see image) for electric motors and traction batteries in order to drive forward the circular economy. Automated, resource-saving processes are being developed with the help of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The aim is to close material cycles in order to realize both ecological and economic benefits through the recycling of components. Funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, an interdisciplinary team is working on the implementation of these sustainable solutions.
