Description

ifm – close to you!

Measuring, controlling and evaluating – when it comes to pioneering automation and digitisation technology, the ifm group is the ideal partner. Since its foundation in 1969 ifm has developed, produced and sold sensors, controllers, software and systems for industrial automation worldwide. As one of the pioneers of Industry 4.0, ifm develops and implements consistent solutions to digitise the entire value chain “from sensor to ERP”. Today, the family-run ifm group of companies employs 7,300 people in 95 countries. The group combines the internationality and innovative strength of a growing group of companies with the flexibility and close customer contact of a medium-sized company. Whether at our six production and development sites on Lake Constance, our corporate headquarters in Essen or our worldwide sales offices - ifm is always "close to you".

PMD Profiler – Quality inspector ready for all challenges

The final quality of a product is determined by the greatest equivalence possible between specification and implementation in each individual production step. Sounds complicated? From now on it won't: the PMD Profiler is the answer to all the challenges of your inline quality control. It only takes a few steps for the photoelectric sensor to be ready for use and identify the profile of an object via laser line scan in order to detect any components, installation procedures, grooves or bore holes that do not comply with the target status – with a deviation of only 0.5 mm being detected. In other words: in future, your products will be manufactured with the maximum quality at each manufacturing step.

With the PMD Profiler you can:

• Improve the product quality: Ensure correct and complete assembly and processing

• Reduce the reject rate permanently: Early detection and elimination of sources of failure

• Minimise installation complexity and cost: Plug & play solution for easy set-up

• Increase production efficiency: Store up to 10 target profiles to simplify the checking of changing objects on the same production line

Functions & features

The sensor works by means of triangulation. A laser line is projected onto the surface to be measured, reflected and taken up again by a receiving element (PMD chip). This creates a height profile of the object with millimetre precision, and the similarity between the reference and the target object is provided as a value between 0 and 100%.

Due to its distance independence and insensitivity to extraneous light, the line scanner has a clear advantage over 1D sensors and camera systems. Further functions are available when IO-Link and the ifm Vision Assistant are used:

• Measuring functions, such as object height and displacement

• Additional parameter settings

• Profile visualisation

• Statistics

• Data recordings

• Profile selection

• Internal operating temperature

• Number of switching cycles

IO-Link masters especially for the automotive industry

The decentralised IO-Link masters are used as gateways between intelligent IO-Link sensors and the fieldbus. They are the perfect choice, even in the most difficult environments: The materials and production methods are identical to the ifm jumper cables of the tried-and-tested EVC product series. The ecolink technology guarantees reliable, permanently ingress-resistant M12 connections of the connection cables.

The AIDA (automation initiative of German automobile manufacturers) has defined a standard for IO-Link masters in the automotive industry. The L-coded power connection with functional earth is to be used for all future field modules. Moreover, this master complies with the AIDA labelling specifications and the most recent Profinet mapping.

• 4-port and 8-port IO-Link masters developed according to AIDA specifications

• Daisy-chain power with standardised L-coded M12 connection technology, max. 2 x 16 A

• Connection of actuators up to 2 A

• Current measurement and configurable current limitation for each port

• Master and device configurable via LR DEVICE software

Vibration sensor VVB – Easy-to-implement condition monitoring for machines

ifm’s VVB vibration sensor is used for permanent, real-time monitoring of vibrations in industrial machinery. Even minimal deviations from the ideal machine condition will affect the vibration pattern. This makes it possible to detect imminent machine damage at an early stage. Plant operators can act with foresight and anticipate maintenance needs to avoid costly production downtimes.

The VVB simultaneously detects the characteristic values v-RMS, a-RMS, a-Peak, crest and temperature, which are all important indicators of potential machine problems. The vibration velocity value v-RMS is standardised in ISO 10816 and a measure of the energy the machine is subjected to.

Bearing damage, rubbing processes, friction or cavitation generate high-frequency and very low-energy vibrations, especially at an early stage of damage. They are not covered by the frequency range defined in the ISO and do not affect v-RMS until a more advanced stage is reached. Here, the peak (a-Peak) and effective (a-RMS) values of the vibration acceleration are advantageous, as they change early due to such damages and thus make them visible. Temperature detection allows for detection of excessive friction causing damage.

More than just vibration – with IO-Link

IO-Link simplifies integration directly into the existing control platform. Expensive secondary networks, gateways and IT support are not required. IO-Link masters transmit process values and status signals to the controller as well as to higher-level systems.

• Permanent monitoring of the relevant indicators for fatigue, impact, friction and temperature

• Seamless integration directly into industrial Ethernet systems, no control cabinet or extensive wiring required

• Raw signal capture for advanced damage analytics

• Integrated machine operating hours counter based on the vibration velocity

moneo: the IIoT platform for industry and production

Digitisation made easy - the IIoT platform ifm moneo combines the level of operation technology with the level of information technology. This makes it easy to read and process the data generated in the production plants. Based on this, well-founded and sustainable corporate decisions can be made.

moneo is the digital tool case for your plants:

• Increase your plant efficiency

• Early detection of changes in the plants to avoid downtimes

• Individual and scalable system solutions according to your requirements

• Open technology platform for simple integration into existing applications

moneo’s modular concept provides a selection of different, easy-to-handle applications that can be linked together. From sensor parameter setting to condition monitoring, moneo thus offers all the features of a future-proof IIoT software. However, you alone decide which applications are required and activated in each individual case. It’s as easy as that. In other words: moneo is great - while always being adaptable in size to best fit your individual requirements. That’s what we call simply made for you.

The moneo starter kit is the perfect start into digitisation. It contains all the components you need to monitor the condition of engines. Try it and take the first step - and when you are ready for the next steps, an extension by further modules or device connections is easily possible. moneo is a growing system. It grows with your requirements.

NEW: Dualis O2D500 – Contour detection and blob analysis in one device

The new 2D vision sensor Dualis O2D500

With the new Dualis, quality control is now a child’s play in almost every case. This is because the 2D vision sensor checks every conceivable characteristic of any object placed in front of it:

• Shape

• Orientation

• Position, number, area, width, height

• Roundness / rectangularity

• ... and it’s suitable for sorting tasks

For convenient setup of the Dualis we provide you with the award-winning ifm Vision Assistant. Once you have discovered the possibilities Dualis offers, you will never run out of ideas for its use. For example, the multi-talent uses blob analysis - blob refers to connected pixels - to detect how much adhesive has been used or whether there are too few thread milled holes. It also recognises whether punched holes have been correctly set or whether retaining clips have been incorrectly positioned. Fun fact: it could even be Dualis making sure you have a sufficient amount of sesame seeds on your Sunday roll.

• Real-time maintenance and fast replacement: Image sharpness, brightness and regions of interest (ROIs) monitoring as well as backups with the ifm memory stick

• Adaptation to different lighting conditions: Creation of several images with different exposure times and polarisation filters

• Intuitive operation with the “ifm Vision Assistant”: Intuitive menu navigation and fast parameterisation with application wizards

• High integrability also in the automotive industry: Ethernet and ProfiNet interfaces as well as A- and L-coded connectors for flexible use

With these features you minimise your installation complexity and your stock levels, as the Dualis recognises contours as well as analyses blobs, making it flexible to use. You improve your product quality and permanently reduce your reject rate.

So, what are you waiting for? Contact us directly and find out more at:
