Innovations from automotive suppliers play a significant role in the transformation of vehicle mobility and new mobility solutions. Nowadays, this goes hand in hand with topics such as networked cars, autonomous driving and the digitalisation of the entire value chain. These topics will form the focus of the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) 2022, a trade fair for the automotive industry organised by the company Wolfsburg AG, which will open its doors from 11th to 13th October. With its Software Marketplace featuring the IZB Live Stage in Hall 1, the IZB 2022 offers a special platform for the latest trends regarding the digitalisation of products and production in the automotive industry. What’s more, 116 companies from 12 different nations have presented their new products in the "Innovations@IZB” report in the run-up to the event, and 23 of them are showcasing world premieres at the IZB. The publication is now available online at www.izb-online.com/en/innovations.

Focusing on mobility

In an increasingly digitalised setting, the success of a vehicle also depends on the extent to which the car can be seamlessly integrated into the customer’s living environment. For the first time, at this year’s IZB, the Software Marketplace provides a hub for development and new solutions for software, connectivity and associated topics. The Software Marketplace is comprised of an exhibition area especially for software companies designed like a co-working space, a live stage for hybrid talks and presentations and a cross-industry area. The cross-industry area focuses on technologies that were developed outside of the automotive industry but have interfaces with it or may be involved in the automotive world in the future. Leichtwerk AG from the German city of Braunschweig, for example, is presenting its StratoStreamer. This unmanned aircraft with a long flight duration is able to provide genuine broadband coverage from the air, in any season and at any degree of latitude. It can therefore facilitate effective and highly profitable communication services for the automotive industry.

The software companies and initiatives showcasing their products and services in the co-working area include Cinemo GmbH, a specialist for multimedia software in vehicles, and the experts for hybrid cloud infrastructures, application services and automation from Red Hat GmbH or Dressler Automation GmbH. Dressler has developed an automation solution that enables the efficient handling of increasing amounts of information from and via robot-supported production facilities.

Experience experts live

These two areas are connected by the IZB Live Stage, a platform for speakers from the industry who will share their insights in a range of keynotes and panel discussions on the latest issues in the key topics of Software, Production 4.0, Cyber Security, Autonomous Driving and E-mobility. The speakers on the IZB Live Stage will include numerous Volkswagen experts such as Dr Sebastian Schmickartz, CPO of the New Factory Warmenau, who will talk about the planned new manufacturing facility for the e-model Trinity; Dr Silke Bagschik, Head of the Product Line MEB, who will underline the importance of the MEB platform for CO2-neutral mobility; and Dr Geng Wu, Head of Purchasing Transformation, who will explain the new purchasing strategy at Volkswagen AG. The Live Stage programme will be rounded off by panel discussions on subjects such as closed-loop recycling management in the automotive industry and the future integration of suppliers via co-creation. The speakers will also include representatives from supplier companies and start-ups. You can find the full programme in English online at: www.izb-online.com/en/livestage. The formats will be streamed via the IZB online platform for time-shifted viewing and afterwards they will remain available online in the Media Center.

World premieres for the mobility of the future

The International Suppliers Fair has established a reputation as one of the most important communication and business platforms for companies in the automotive supplier industry. This successful development is proven by its high-quality exhibitors boasting innovative strength. In the run-up to the IZB, 116 companies have provided an insight into the innovations that they are presenting at this year’s trade fair with regard to the topics that are currently shaping the transformation of the industry. These innovations include 26 world premieres from 23 companies – from cooling for high-voltage cables and charging cables with modular structures right through to data collection and measurement systems. One of these world premieres will be presented by Novelic, the first company ever to represent Serbia as a guest nation at the IZB. Together with Infineon, Novelic has developed a radar system for the reliable monitoring of vehicle interiors. IZB visitors can experience this innovation being used in a handmade model of a driver’s cab.

Antolin Deutschland GmbH is presenting not one, but two products at a trade fair for the first time. One of these innovations is a combined software and hardware solution for multi-factor authentication for vehicle access by means of biometry, which is suitable for integration into the driver’s door or another location on the vehicle exterior, for example.

Innovations for Electrification and Production 4.0

The world premieres in the key topic of Electrification include a compression-moulded high-performance plate with a light weight, high stability and flexible design by AvanTech GmbH and a lightweight battery protection plate and sustainable acoustic technology by Autoneum AG.

A multitude of solutions linked to Production 4.0 will also be presented for the first time, for example the mobile 3D scanning system with an intelligent wireless real-time communication connection from the company 3Dokuteam or a measuring system for the simple, mobile quantification of haptics by the Hamburg-based company Grewus GmbH.
