Business Platforms and Knowledge Transfer on Trend Topics

The specialist events accompanying the 8th International Suppliers Fair (IZB) will be kicked off by the International Automotive Congress - ASEAN

A key feature of the International Suppliers Fair IZB is the close interaction between the trade fair and its programme of specialist events on trend topics. The 8th IZB, which will take place from 14th to 16th October 2014, will also present an extensive programme of accompanying events featuring specialist congresses, conferences, networking events and business meetings. The focus of these events will be placed on the booming states in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the partner region of this year's trade fair. On 13th October, experts from the worlds of business and technology and from different organisations and associations will discuss the development of the Southeast Asian market and the challenges of business partnerships at the International Automotive Congress - ASEAN in the Wolfsburg AG Arena. Other specialist conferences will highlight automotive trends such as lightweight construction and resource-efficient production. If you are interested in any of these events, you can find more detailed information online at http://www.izb-online.com/en/events.

The Southeast Asian economic zone is continuing to develop in a dynamic manner, as is reflected by the fact that the ASEAN states are Asia's third largest growth engine after China and India. Speakers from the domains of business and technology and from different organisations and associations will provide participants with practical insights into the emerging Southeast Asian market on 13th October. Representatives from Volkswagen and Volkswagen Group Malaysia, the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and the Malaysian companies DRB-Hicom and WSA-Group will report on the development of the market and the challenges and opportunities involved in business partnerships. Strategies for the positioning of a company in specific local markets will be explained by speakers from Continental Automotive (Thailand) Co. and Bosch Automotive (Thailand) Co. On top of all this, the Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG) and the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce will also present potential financing and funding solutions.

Specialist Events on Trend Topics on All Three Days of the Trade Fair

The first day of the IZB on 14th October will begin with an extensive programme of expert talks and events. The first of these events, the China Symposium, will explore the increasingly complicated logistic complexities in the global automotive industry with a particular focus on China. The two-day-long 30th VDI/VW Joint Congress on “Driver Assistance Systems and Integrated Safety” will also start on 14th October and will give participants the chance to discuss current issues and trends concerning active and passive safety in vehicles, especially against the background of an increasingly automated world. The Congress will include an “Innovation Fair”, at which young scientists from the field of research and the automotive industry will present their activities.

On 15th October 2014, Wolfsburg AG and the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (IWU) from the German city of Chemnitz will join forces to welcome guests to the “Resource-Efficient Automotive Production” Symposium, which will present possibilities for and approaches to energy-efficient and material-efficient production. The speakers at the event will include representatives from Volkswagen AG, the Fraunhofer IWU and the companies FELSS Systems GmbH, FORCAM GmbH and KUKA Roboter GmbH, among others.

The topic of the key technology of lightweight construction will form the focus of a specialist conference taking place on 16th October, the last day of the IZB. The Lightweight Construction Forum IZB 2014 will be held under the patronage of Prof. Dr Jürgen Leohold, the Head of Volkswagen Group Research and the AutoUni, and will focus on topics such as new manufacturing technologies for hybrid lightweight construction, innovations for the automotive industry and vehicle weight reductions.

The Final Day of the Trade Fair Will Focus on the IZB Job Fair

On 16th October, the IZB Job Fair, an essential element of the trade fair, will give students and university graduates the opportunity to establish contact with representatives from exhibitors’ human resources departments. Job Fair participants will also be able to make the most of tips for their personal development and a free application portfolio check. A new feature of the Job Fair this year is the Job Wall in Hall 1, which will provide an overview of job vacancies at companies exhibiting at the IZB and other companies. Participants can use the online version of the Job Wall to find out more about these job opportunities in the run-up to the event.
