Thermal Management by Hirschvogel – the “Flex Cooling Power Module” Concept
Hirschvogel Holding GmbH – Hall 5 | Stand 5206

Thermal management in battery electric vehicles (BEVs) is a decisive factor in terms of their performance and efficiency. It has an impact on the range, charging times, and service life of the battery and the power module.
Forged pin fin heat sinks made of aluminum and copper represent an innovative solution for cooling power modules in traction inverters. They demonstrate outstanding thermal conductivity and improve heat dissipation thanks to the increased surface area of the pin fin structure.
A concept design from Hirschvogel (see image) includes a system with parallel flow cooling fields. Here, the coolant flows through several channels to ensure uniform and efficient cooling of the individual module fields. This improves the thermal performance and reduces flow resistance.
