Serviceable and recyclable thermal interface mat for efficient thermal management

As electrification advances, efficient thermal management is becoming critical. GKD has developed a flexible thermal interface mat (see image) combining reliable heat transfer, high adaptability and full recyclability. With a thermal conductivity of up to 3 W/(m·K), the mat efficiently transfers heat between stressed components and cooling systems, compensating for tolerances and ensuring reliable thermal contact. A key advantage is serviceability: unlike thermal pastes or gels, this dry, flexible mat can be removed and replaced during maintenance without elaborate cleaning. It is also fully recyclable, supporting resource-efficient material use and improved repairability. Applications include DC/DC converters, onboard chargers, ECUs, sensor modules and LED systems. Customisable geometry, thickness and thermal properties make it a scalable platform from development to series production.
