The International Suppliers Fair (IZB) has been postponed and will now take place as an in-person event in Wolfsburg from 11th to 13th October 2022. The decision to postpone the event was made by the IZB organiser Wolfsburg AG and the company MW Messe-, Ausstellungs- und Dienstleistungsgesellschaft Wolfsburg as the technical partner of the IZB. To shorten the wait for the postponed trade fair, the IZB will be expanding the IZB Online Marketplace for its exhibitors in October 2021. This will give exhibitors the chance to showcase their products and services in the focus areas of the event. The “Automotive Supplier Summit” congress organised by IPM AG to accompany the IZB in Wolfsburg will now be held in a hybrid format on 4th October.

“In Germany, the number of Covid-19 infections is currently decreasing, and the number of vaccinations is going up. This did indeed briefly give us initial hope that trade fairs would be able to open their doors again in the second half of 2021. That said, a key element of the IZB is its international approach, and on an international level, the development of the pandemic is much harder to predict. We have therefore decided to focus on holding an in-person IZB in 2022 to provide a high level of planning reliability for all parties involved”, states Wendelin Göbel, Spokesman of the Board of Wolfsburg AG, explaining the decision. The company has been organising the trade fair for the automotive supplier industry, which has developed into the leading event for the industry in Europe, since 2001.

“The development of the pandemic is still full of uncertainty on a global level. With a view to providing the best possible planning reliability for exhibitors and visitors, we are confident that we will be able to hold the IZB as an in-person event with the quantity and quality for which it is known next year”, explains Matthias Steckmann, Managing Director of MW Messe-, Ausstellungs- und Dienstleistungsgesellschaft Wolfsburg mbH.

More than one in every three of the around 700 IZB exhibitors registered for this year’s event would have travelled to Wolfsburg from abroad. “Our goal is to continue to authentically breathe life into the central idea of the IZB, ‘Connecting Car Competence’, in the future. When it comes to achieving this, personal contacts play an essential role, especially on an international level. In October 2021, we will be offering a larger online platform that gives exhibitors the opportunity to present their content and be contacted by interested parties while we wait for the postponed event”, states Wendelin Göbel.
In 2022, the IZB will above all focus on the transformation of the automotive industry and the advancing digitalisation of its products, services and processes. The trade fair will also continue to address this recent development in the key areas of its exhibitions and events in the future, for example E-Mobility, Software, Mobile Services, Sustainability and Production 4.0.
