Connecting Car Competence – the Key Topic of the IZB 2021

The 11th International Suppliers Fair (IZB) will take place in the German city of Wolfsburg from 5th to 7th October 2021 and will focus on “Connecting Car Competence”. Stefan Schiller, head of the IZB team, explains the background behind this motto.

Mr Schiller, what was the reason for choosing this specific key topic?

Stefan Schiller: Ever since it was first held in 2001, the IZB has always placed future-oriented key topics at the heart of its event concept. The automotive industry is currently undergoing a radical change: the digital transformation, which also has a particularly strong impact on the supplier industry. Key concepts that I would like to mention include autonomous driving and the search for alternative drive concepts and new mobility solutions, among others. Other hot topics dominating current events in the automotive industry are digitalisation, software and the networking of vehicles, namely “connected cars”. Against this background, the connected car will also strongly influence the upcoming IZB. At the same time, the trade fair additionally serves as a marketplace for the global supplier industry, bringing together the findings and problem-solving approaches of all industry representatives so that they can work together to develop new ideas.

How will the trade fair reflect this key topic?

Stefan Schiller: The IZB 2021 will shine the spotlight on the new products, technologies and business models that are revolutionising the world of mobility. We expect the leading trade fair for the automotive supplier industry in Wolfsburg to bring together the pioneers behind the digital transformation in the automotive industry. In turn, they will tell OEM representatives, trade visitors and guests all about their latest findings and experiences and make the most of the opportunity to discuss new ideas with them. By enabling such exchanges, the IZB 2021 will provide a clear and interactive insight into the digital mobility of the future and therefore also the networking of cars, infrastructure and people.

What can trade visitors and guests expect from the IZB?

Stefan Schiller: What developments are already feasible when it comes to future mobility? What will be conceivable in the near future? These key questions will form the focus of the trade fair and its programme of accompanying events. The IZB offers everyone involved an outstanding communication and business platform that gives them the opportunity to network and discuss such questions. On the three days of the trade fair, events involving interesting discussions and presentations, including those held as hybrid events, will offer an ideal platform for a profitable exchange of ideas and experiences. In line with the IZB motto of “Connecting Car Competence”, suppliers will showcase their expertise in the form of products and solutions. Key topics will include connectivity applications, mobile services and smart services, for example, and how they can be secured and incorporated into the IT infrastructure. We strongly believe that with its concept of a trade fair solely for supplier companies held in the home city of Volkswagen AG, the IZB is sending out a signal of pioneering spirit for the automotive industry.
