Exhibitors at the Specialist Trade Fair for Automotive Supplier Companies in Wolfsburg Announce 38 World Premieres

117 companies from eleven different countries are featured in the Innovations Report of the 10th International Suppliers Fair (IZB). These companies are all exhibitors at the specialist trade fair for the automotive supplier industry in Wolfsburg, at which they will showcase their new product innovations from 16th to 18th October 2018. 31 exhibitors have already announced that they will be showcasing a total of 38 world premieres at the IZB 2018. Alongside the event’s main focus on the theme of “Think Digital”, these innovations also reflect the entire spectrum of topics involved in the industry. A total of more than 830 companies from 34 different countries are presenting their products and services at this year’s IZB. One of the companies presented in the report, which features exhibitors from Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan and the USA, is Amphenol Advanced Sensors. The US company is presenting its new sensors for measuring the concentration of PM2.5 fine particulate matter to the world for the first time. The sensors are designed to determine the concentration of the harmful particles both in the atmosphere outside a vehicle and in the internal air inside the vehicle cabin.

Augmented reality and displays

E-Lead Electronic from Taiwan is showcasing its new Augmented Reality Head-Up Display, which features a diffuser mounted on the vehicle ceiling that is space-saving and cost-effective, for the first time. The display does not require an eye-tracking system and is able to produce a virtual image from 20 metres away. The new Motion T carputer from the Finnish company Link Motion can integrate enhanced graphics on four HD in-car displays. Alongside its modern entertainment functions, the carputer is also able to support advanced networking functions for Connected Vehicle Platform services and can therefore benefit from wireless software and firmware updates.

Production processes and casting and forging processes

The company SAPA from Italy is celebrating the worldwide debut of its One-Shot™ method at its exhibition stand in Hall 1 at the International Suppliers Fair 2018. This all-in-one production process reduces the weight and cost of automotive components. The French exhibitor Saint Jean Industries has developed the COBAPRESS™ evolution process, which uses a top-quality casting and forging process to improve local mechanical properties. The process is based on the idea of casting a thin section of aluminium and transforming it into a bigger part when forged.

A cooling system test and fill device and a brake pedal made of continuous fibres

German companies are also showcasing a multitude of products for the first time at Europe’s leading trade fair for the automotive supplier industry in the Allerpark in Wolfsburg. The KVBA 01 cooling system test and fill device from the company Autotestgeräte Leitenberger, for example, enables the automatic evacuation, filling and testing of cooling systems. It is also suitable for the thermal management systems of fuel cells and electric vehicles. The BOGE Rubber & Plastics Group has developed an additive manufacturing process for continuous fibres for the series production of its “brake pedal”, a safety component that is 40 to 55 percent lighter than steel, fully automated and quality assured. Both the pedal and the manufacturing process represent a world premiere that is being presented to a specialist international audience for the first time at the IZB 2018.

Temperature-controlled batteries and tamper-proof colour laser film

The new functionally integrated battery housing developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (IWU) successfully tackles several challenges involved in the world of electromobility: It keeps batteries for e-motors at optimal operating temperatures, offers the best possible crash protection and can also be used to cool or heat the passenger compartment. This solution also means that the temperature control of the batteries requires no additional energy. Schreiner ProTech’s new CLF 2 Color Laser Film for individual laser marking on vehicle nameplates offers additional security features such as watermarks, holograms and security slits together with an innovative composition of layers that make the label particularly tamper-proof.
