International Automotive Congress – Argentina and Brazil
For the 7th time, from 10th to 12th October 2012, the doors of the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) will open at the Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany. The partner countries, Argentina and Brazil will play a key role in this year’s fair.
Contrary to the trend, the sales crisis in 2009 and 2010 had a much smaller impact in these countries than in the rest of the world. With their growth years 2011 and 2012, it has become clear that the region is of major importance to the global market. And Volkswagen stands out thanks to local production with a market share of over 20 per cent. The International Automotive Congress forms the prelude to the IZB and is, at the same time, the conclusion of a series of events which were developed by the Wolfsburg AG together with the AutoUni of the Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft.
On 9th October 2012, it will illuminate the strategic and operative challenges for manufacturers and suppliers in the South American market. Top-class speakers from the Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, the Argentinian Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ADEFA), the Brazilian Automobile Suppliers Association (SINDIPEÇAS/ ABIPEÇAS), the Association of Argentinian Automobile Suppliers (AFAC) and well-known suppliers, pick up on the relationships of the OEMs and suppliers as well as the structure of the South American market. In this way companies, in particular who want to be involved in South America, obtain valuable insights and contacts.
The congress will begin with a strategic positioning. The participants will get a realistic image of the automotive supply chain in Argentina and Brazil which on the one hand, demonstrates the need for action and on the other hand, can give possible impetus. Additional topic focusses will be: activities and challenges of the Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft in South America, technological future approaches or solutions, the securing of competitive edges and jobs as well as bilateral partnerships with local suppliers. In the afternoon, representatives of leading South American and German supplier companies and the Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft report on the opportunities and risks of reciprocal partnerships. Similarly, supplier partnerships and the pending structural change in the South American automotive industry will be discussed.
