The International Automotive Congress on 17th October 2016

Shining the spotlight on digital transformation and intelligent mobility

Digital + networked is the formula that forms the basis for the changes currently taking place in virtually all areas of life and along all value chains. Manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry are also taking a new approach towards their usual business activities and combining innovative solutions to create completely new applications. This development will form the focus of talks given by experts from OEMs, globally operating supplier companies and scientific institutions at the "International Automotive Congress – Mobility goes Digital" in Wolfsburg on 17th October 2016. The congress, which is being held under the patronage of Johann Jungwirth, the Chief Digital Officer of Volkswagen AG, will shine a spotlight on innovative approaches towards artificial intelligence, intelligent mobility and autonomous driving. As the patron of the International Automotive Congress, Johann Jungwirth, the Chief Digital Officer of Volkswagen AG, will open the event with his keynote speech on the digital transformation of Volkswagen. "The disruption of the automotive industry by the digital revolution is leading to the reinvention of both cars and mobility. Alongside self-driving vehicles and mobility on demand, companies in the industry are also developing completely new concepts when it comes to the customer experience, design, vehicle interiors and the digital user experience. The congress aims to provide participants with ideas and impetus so that they can actively help to shape this new and fascinating world of mobility. After all, we need visions and intelligent solutions in order to successfully master the transformation from automotive manufacturer to mobility provider", emphasises Jungwirth.

The congress will focus on the subject areas of "Intelligent Mobility – Automotive Manufacturers Provide Possible Solutions", "Strategies of Successful Suppliers and Service Providers" and "Software / Big Data". A number of leading speakers from Volkswagen, Audi and Scania will present their digital transformation strategies at the event. They will be joined by representatives from Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions, the management and IT consulting company MHP and Continental AG, who will discuss the topic from the perspective of suppliers and service providers. In the afternoon, speakers representing companies such as the developer and provider of cloud-based map services HERE and the Fraunhofer Society will present their approaches towards architectures of software systems and data and system integration.

According to Thomas Krause, a Member of the Board of Wolfsburg AG: "The speed at which the change is taking place is breathtaking. In the future, the share of factors responsible for creating value in cars will place an even stronger focus on software-based services." The company Wolfsburg AG is the organiser of the International Automotive Congress, which will kick off the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) 2016. The specialist trade fair, which features around 800 exhibitors from more than 30 different countries, will take place in the Allerpark in Wolfsburg from 18th to 20th October 2016.
