Digitalisation now forms an integral part of the automotive industry. It enables companies to radically redesign their value chains, to have an essential impact on business models, to generate added value for their customers and in doing so, to secure their competitiveness. Speakers from Volkswagen, globally operating supplier companies and the world of politics will present a number of important approaches and solutions based on the topic of "Mobility Goes Digital" at the International Automotive Congress, which will take place in Wolfsburg on 17th October 2016. Johann Jungwirth, Chief Digital Officer at Volkswagen AG, is the patron of the congress, which will also kick off the 9th International Suppliers Fair (IZB). At a trade exhibition held alongside the event, partners and sponsors of the congress will inform visitors about their latest projects and products. The progress being made in terms of digitalisation is resulting in changes to production processes, communication and customer relations within the automotive industry. Nowadays, drivers don't just want to reach their destination in a safe, fast and comfortable manner, but also want to be constantly provided with comprehensive information during their journey. Driver assistance systems, vehicle networking and the permanent cloud solution are just a few examples of a variety of fascinating applications available.
"The digital transition in the automotive industry offers a multitude of opportunities to supplier companies. Nevertheless, the companies themselves need to identify and make the most of these chances. Our congress provides them with trend-setting and thought-provoking ideas and an ideal networking platform", explains Thomas Krause, a Member of the Board of Wolfsburg AG.
The congress, which will take place at the Wolfsburg AG Forum AutoVision, will open with a keynote speech by Johann Jungwirth. Mr Jungwirth has been the Head of the Volkswagen Group's Digitalisation Strategy Department since November 2015. Prior to this, he was President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America from 2009 until 2014, when he became a Director in the development of Mac computer systems and a member of the Special Projects Group at Apple.
The media partner of the event is the company Media-Manufaktur GmbH, which focuses its work on the digital transformation taking place in the automotive industry.
