After being inspired by the topical issues of downsizing and reducing harmful emissions, Kendrion Passenger Cars has developed a new generation of its piston cooling valve for the Euro 6 standard and successfully launched it on the global market. The piston cooling valve (see image) from Kendrion Automotive enables engines to be warmed up quicker when cold starting by reducing the oil cooling cycle. This leads to a significant reduction in harmful emissions and oil consumption, as well as extending the lifetime of the oil pump. On top of this, the smaller size of the valve has led to a weight reduction of 300g (64%) together with a decrease in energy consumption of 8.5 W (66%) and an increase in flow capacity to a rate of 32 l/min. The developments made in the new generation enable the valve to be easily adapted to suit existing installation spaces. Alongside its new piston cooling valve, the exhibitor is also presenting a number of other innovative solutions from the fields of engine management and injection systems at the IZB 2016.
