Advanced Sensors and Casco, both of which form part of the Amphenol Sensor Group, have announced that they have joined forces to develop the first CO2 sensor for vehicle interiors (see image) that is able to automatically compensate for ageing and drift effect throughout its entire service life. The concentration of CO2 in a vehicle not only has an impact on driving comfort, but also on the cognitive abilities of its driver and passengers. The new Amphenol sensor facilitates the efficient management of air conditioning systems. It is also able to reliably detect critical CO2 concentration levels that may occur during the use of R744 as a coolant in the case of leakage. With its integrated LIN interface and an idle current of less than 100 µA, the new sensor is already an ideal solution for advanced energy management, a high level of safety and the efficient monitoring of vehicle interiors. The fact that the sensor offers an extensive temperature range enables it to guarantee the required measurement precision and integrated drift compensation.
