With compacore®, the company voestalpine has developed a unique new manufacturing method suitable for the large-scale production of full-faced glued stators (see image) and rotors. This new technology enables the use of backlack stacks for high production volumes and is used for highly efficient electric motors with a high power density. It was developed for electrical machines in cars, white goods and industrial applications. compacore® can not only reduce iron loss but also increase the mechanical stability of the stacks in assembly and operation. It also provides benefits for machines with a high power density that are subjected to high thermal loads by improving their vibration behaviour and, in turn, their acoustic behaviour. The technology additionally enables users to measure iron loss on component level within the process and thus produce transparent recordings.
