GOM has extended its range of standardised measuring cells for automated quality control by introducing new models of its ATOS ScanBox. The optical 3D measuring machines help to save space and offer flexibility in positioning when installed and put into operation in press shops and body shops. The new Series 7 and 8 (see image) are ideal for the 3D digitisation of items ranging from large sheet-metal parts through to entire body shells. While the Series 7 is fitted with a linear axis, the Series 8 of the ATOS ScanBox uses a double robot structure and therefore offers users the option of simultaneous duplex operation. In the Series 8, both robotically operated ATOS 3D scanners simultaneously carry out coordinated 3D measuring procedures for the inspection of complete car bodies or vehicle interiors. All of the measuring processes involved in these procedures are planned in the Virtual Measuring Room of the GOM software and executed with path optimisation and without using a robot control panel thanks to the Auto Teaching function.
