International Suppliers Fair (IZB)
16th to 18th October 2018
Wolfsburg | Germany
With around 800 exhibiting companies from 32 different countries, this year's International Suppliers Fair (IZB), which took place between 18th and 20th October, was more international than ever before in its 15-year history. The trade fair has therefore confirmed its importance as a globally recognised information, communication and business platform for the automotive industry. Both the exhibitors at the event and its around 49,800 trade visitors were equally pleased with the trade fair and its results, as was revealed in an independent survey. (More on this topic in the next IZB News.)
Alongside alternative engines and materials, this year's event placed a special focus on the future-oriented topic of "Mobility Goes Digital", which was paid special attention in the context of the one-day International Automotive Congress, which kicked off the IZB, and in the presentations and discussions at the trade fair. "By choosing ' Mobility Goes Digital' as the focus of this year's event, we have shone the spotlight on the topic that is currently taking the supplier industry by storm. When developing product concepts, planning production activities and, of course, training staff, digitalisation is sure to play an absolutely essential role in the future", emphasised Julius von Ingelheim, the Spokesman of the Board of Wolfsburg AG, as the IZB came to a close.
The corresponding special exhibition, at which exhibitors including well-known global players in the field of consumer electronics such as Asus, Samsung, Sharp and Sony showcased their innovative solutions, therefore attracted a great deal of interest among visitors to the event. The special exhibition also welcomed a company from Taiwan as a first-time exhibitor at the IZB in the form of E-Lead Electronic. With its "Premium High-Resolution Projector HUD", E-Lead Electronic additionally brought a world premiere to the trade fair – one of a total of 46 world premieres featured in the IZB Innovations Report.
The leading trade fair for the European supplier industry also yet again recorded impressive growth in terms of its popularity on an international level. In fact, approximately a third of its around 800 exhibitors came to Wolfsburg from locations outside of Germany. The countries represented by supplier companies at the IZB for the first time this year not only included Taiwan, but also Slovakia, Moldova, Sweden, Finland and Norway. On top of all this, the exhibition grounds in the Allerpark in Wolfsburg were extended to cover a total area of just under 37,000 square metres for this year's event.
The IZB Job Fair is already a traditional feature of the International Suppliers Fair and yet again attracted a huge number of visitors and a great deal of attention when it was held on the third day of the trade fair, as per usual. This year, around 2500 pupils, students, university graduates and jobseekers yet again made the most of the opportunity to establish direct contact with representatives from the human resources departments of the exhibiting companies. The JobWall containing current advertisements for jobs at automotive companies was also open to visitors on all three days of the IZB.
