Modern vehicles are already equipped with a multitude of sensor-based assistance systems. Car2X communication, namely the exchange of data between networked vehicles, facilitates the development of new and innovative systems that can be used to additionally increase safety in road traffic (see image). The company c4c Engineering GmbH is currently developing a simulator that will already enable users to experience such future systems in a wide variety of different scenarios in the present day. The simulator includes an emergency brake assistant that responds to a signal emitted by a braking vehicle ahead by activating a brake application in its own vehicle. Such a system is also able to respond if other systems fail, for example due to difficult weather conditions. The solution is based on the concept for an on-board solution used to record telemetry data in cars that was developed by c4c. These data can be securely communicated via Car2X and cloud solutions and visualised in real time both in vehicles and on mobile systems.
